Olivetrade awarded the first cleaner production certificate in Lebanon by the Lebanese cleaner production center
Olivetrade was the first in the olive oil sector in Lebanon to earn the Cleaner production certificate for energy and water saving, water reuse for irrigation, use of solid waste for heating by the Lebanese Cleaner Production Center (LCPC).
The LCPC was established with the support of the European Commission- LIFE Program, United Nations Industrial Development Organization, the Austrian Government and the Ministry of Environment in Lebanon. It aims at empowering Lebanese industrial enterprises to design and manufacture products that meet growing consumers' demand for more environmentally-friendly products, as well as to reduce the adverse environmental impacts of industrial production thus responding to the requirements of sustainable development.
« Finding an environmental friendly solution to the waste management challenge has been a serious concern since Olivetrade’s inception. The LCPC not only helped us address this issue but also valorize our waste, transforming it into bi-products used in the olive orchards, or sold in the market. » said Youssef Fares, CEO of Olivetrade.
